Art of Game: The Path

I celebrated the Indie game sale on Steam this week by purchasing The Path, a game by Tale of Tales. The game is a short “horror” game adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood, very much intended for adults. It’s a very immersive game from the beginning which is good because the game also plays out rather slowly. This is a game that tells a story, not some mindless run and gun shooter. There’s lots of subtlety and parts of the story are left up to your imagination. The artwork is amazing and really draws you in. The game also encourages not following instructions. The first thing it tells you to do is to stay on the path. If you do, however, you will be greeted with an instant failure and will have to start over. I recommend anyone that enjoys a good twisted tale to check the game out. Considering that it’s about the cost of a movie ticket, I don’t think anyone should pass this up.

Manwich!

Shut the fuck up and eat

Shut the fuck up and eat

How come any time I use power tools to do even the simplest of home improvements I feel more manly? All I did was mount a power strip on the wall and attach the keyboard tray to my desk but since I used a power drill I suddenly feel like Chuck Norris. Speaking of which, always remember kids, Chuck Norris doesn’t sleep, he waits.

Also, I know it’s not Monday technically… but I haven’t slept yet so in my mind, this still counts as a Motivator Monday post.

Ah. Saturday

Is it ironic that on Saturday, the day most people sleep in, I’m up before dawn? How about when you consider that I get to sleep in every day? (one of the benefits of working 2nd shift) Anyway, I forgot how enjoyable it is to sit and watch the sun rise even if it is from the comfort of my apartment. Actually having breakfast when I’m supposed to is nice as well. I should really make it a point to try and get up early more often. Time to go make the most of my early awakening by getting some much needed errands done. It’s going to be a good day.

Note to GM Executives: You Suck

Apparently General Motors thinks the best way forward is to get rid of their good products and keep making the crap. Downsizing Pontiac and axing Saturn altogether? Come on. My super unscientific survey of people I know tells me that Saturn and Pontiac are the two brands from GM that they trust. I own a Saturn and absolutely love it. I’ve had no problems with it and now they go and kill the whole brand? That’s the last straw, my next car will be foreign. I’m thinking probably German since they actually produce their well engineered cars instead of scraping them. I hope the GM execs that made these moves get canned, tarred and feathered.

Being Alive

Because Sometimes, Waking up isn't so bad.

Because Sometimes, Waking up isn't so bad.

Unfortunately today isn’t one of those days for me. I feel like I’ve been run over by a train.

Outlaw

The following two videos are not for the weak of heart (or stomach). Both of these excerpts from the documentary “Outlaw” were featured on BoingBoing TV. I felt that they tied in nicely with my last post so I’m posting them here. I urge anyone that feels that the torture that the Bush administration engaged in to watch these videos. Imagine that you were these people, detained for no reason, indefinitely, tortured and denied even the most basic human rights. This is the kind of thing the Nazis did leading up to and during WW2. What makes us think that we should be able to do this kind of thing?
